I have just started back at Uni this semester, after a three year break. This will be my second attempt at finishing my Bachelor of Education degree. I am actually quite surprised at myself for coming back, considering I swore I never would and threw out three years worth of resources, assignments and basically anything to do with teaching. However, things have changed, and I have more ‘life experience’ and I believe now is the right time for me to begin this challenge again!

The main reason I want to be a teacher is because I had two great teachers when I was at school, one in primary school and the other in high school, and they changed my way of thinking and helped me develop a love of learning. This is something that I have always wanted to share with others, especially children.

Through this course I hope to gain a wide range of resources, as well as the skills to use them, and more importantly show others how to use them. I think in the society we live in today, and will live in in the future it is extremely important to have the ability to use as many resources as we need, in order to make life and learning easier and more ‘understandable’ for students and the wider community. ICT’s are a large part of those resources.

I am 29 yrs old and live in Brisbane. For the past 8 years I have been working as a Nanny, seven of those years have been spent with one family, whose children are now seven and three. I have loved every minute I have shared with this family and they continue to be a great support to me, especially with my first attempt at this degree and now with this one. I consider them to be part of my family, and I know they feel the same about me!

One of the many great skills I have been able to attain as a Nanny is cooking, in particular baking and decorating birthday cakes, and it is one of my hobbies. Below is one of my best creations, which I did at a cake decorating course.

That’s all for now, I look forward to getting to know you all, happy studying!!
